Is it Time to Flip the Heaters on Yet?
In great Britain we have not really had much of a 2009 summer, we have a few days here and there but that is literally about it. Now we are approaching the Autumn season which will no doubt fly by bringing on the cold months again. I get a lot of people asking me when the best time to switch the heaters back on would be. But this question is a bit like answering how long is a piece of string, its just not an easy question to answer, so lets take a look at a few things which may make you switch on and check your central heating.
The Temperature
Obviously this will always play a huge part in weather or not you switch on your heating, I mean the weather in the UK can literally change in an instant and there is no saying what it will be like from one day to the next. In my opinion as soon as the temperatures goes below 5 you are going to really start feeling the cold.
Personal Preference
This is one of the main reasons why the initial question is so tricky to answer, each person has their own individual preference. Some people may feel the cold a lot more than some other people, so you should start switching the heaters on then.
Months
Although this is not something solid to go by, you should also take the colder months into account. I mean November, December and January are in all probability the coldest months and every year they plainly get colder and colder due to global warming. So my answer to the majority of people would be to keep them switched on during these months and keep the doors closed so heat does not escape.
